AIR QUALITY AND THE ENVIRONMENT BILL

The Air Quality Committee of Environmental Protection UK (EPUK) has called for important changes to strengthen the air quality provisions of the proposed Environment Bill

The changes demanded include a stronger, more independent Office for Environmental Protection, clearer legal provisions and enforcement, a commitment to meet World Health Organisation standards, and a new emphasis on public health.

As with all environmental laws, political changes are creating significant uncertainty about when and how the UK government will take forward its environmental agenda – and whether that agenda remains the same.

William Wilson, Barrister- Director at Wyeside Consulting Ltd has spoken at earlier meetings of EPUK and its Air Quality Committee, and will be speaking at the EPUK National Conference in Birmingham on 13 November 2019 on legal changes in prospect for environmental laws.
